Three Viewings on the Trail: Judging a Clip Before the Finishing Bill

Movement flatters a clip the way a downhill leg flatters a walker. Before finishing credits are spent, ask the plain question: does she stay herself for the whole duration? An upscaler raises resolution, not fidelity. Judge at working size, where a failed judgement costs nothing.

Three viewings, three questions

First — the character. Watch at full speed with the card beside the screen. Hair, face and signature should hold through the movement; most drift arrives mid-turn.

Second — the joins. Hands entering frame, hair crossing the face, fabric edges, the moment the light changes. Transfers strain exactly at joins.

Third — the loop point. Watch the seam five times in a row. The seam is what an audience learns fastest.

Then, and only then, finish it

A clip that holds across all three viewings has earned the finishing bench. A clip that fails goes back to the still — at the trail atelier the still is where character is decided, at 6 credits, and motion is only ever a pass over a frame that already belonged.
